Our participation in “Blooming Art” at the Haegeumgang Theme Museum

This year, we – Daniel Heinz and Gulnara Heinz – are participating in the 11th Geoje International Art Festival “Blooming Art” in South Korea. For us, this is not just an international art exhibition , but a matter close to our hearts: there is more to our two large-format acrylic paintings than just paint on canvas.

For the past two years, I, Daniel, have had the privilege of being part of this contemporary art festival. This year, a great dream is coming true for my mother, Gulnara: presenting her work in a museum for the first time. Together, we worked for eight days – with focus, lots of feedback, and the occasional creative crisis that simply comes with the process.

Our works: Connection and transformation

Painting of a woman and a brown horse in a meadow with goldfinches, with a light blue sky in the background.
“Connection” by Gulnara Heinz
Acrylic on canvas | 115.8 × 75 cm | 2025

A quiet, intense moment between a woman and a horse – connected not by words, but by presence. Surrounded by wheat fields, yellowhammers, and delicate wildflowers, a tranquil, almost meditative atmosphere of trust arises. Not a classic portrait, but an invitation to genuine connection.

Acrylic painting of a crane (bird) with black paint splashes and golden accents on white and blue flowers.
“Golden Traces” by Daniel Heinz
Acrylic on canvas | 93 × 144 cm | 2025

A lone crane traverses a gray landscape, leaving golden trails that awaken blossoms. Inspired by the Korean symbolism of the crane as a sign of good fortune and longevity, the work tells the story of how art not only depicts but also transforms.

And then came the shipping…

Painting: ✔️ Title, description, photos: ✔️ And then the real challenge: How do you get two large canvases safely to South Korea?

  1. Wooden boxes are worth their weight in gold – custom-made ones prevent slippage.
  2. Good planning pays off – two weeks on the road, with bubble wrap and customs documents.
  3. Patience – checking tracking numbers quickly becomes a new hobby.

Our thanks go to the museum staff who professionally received and prepared everything.
